Oleksandr Usyk is considering former UFC two division champion Jon Jones and former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder as potential opponents for what is expected to be the final fight of his boxing career, according to comments from his adviser.

Usyk vacated his IBA, WBC and WBA heavyweight titles last week, but has indicated he intends to compete once more before retiring. The possibility of a crossover bout involving Jones has emerged after the former UFC champion recently expressed interest in moving into boxing.

Usyk has one “last dance” remaining before ending his career, adviser Sergey Lapin said, according to Ring Magazine and Sherdog. Lapin added that Jones and Wilder are among the opponents being considered for the Ukrainian’s farewell bout.

The report follows Usyk’s most recent outing, in which he recovered from being on course for an upset defeat against kickboxer Rico Verhoeven to earn a controversial stoppage victory in the closing seconds of the 11th round.

Jones retired from the UFC last year as heavyweight champion with a professional mixed martial arts record of 28-1. The former two-division UFC champion, known as “Bones,” later campaigned for a place on the UFC White House card earlier this month before publicly criticising the promotion and requesting his release after not being included.

Any bout between Usyk and Jones would represent a high-profile crossover contest should negotiations progress. Wilder also remains under consideration as Usyk prepares for what his team says will be the final fight of his professional boxing career.
