Dana White has criticised Eddie Hearn as negotiations continue over a long-awaited heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, with the location and broadcast arrangements among the issues still to be resolved.
Fury and Joshua have been linked with an all-British heavyweight clash for more than a decade, but a deal has repeatedly failed to materialise. Talks have continued as both former world champions enter the latter stages of their careers, with Turki Alalshikh playing a central role in efforts to bring the fight together.
“I stopped listening to Eddie Hearn three months ago. Is there anybody more full of shit than this guy? Come on. You might want to ask the promoters of the fight. Am I promoting the fight? Oh, okay,” said White, as noted by Sports Illustrated.
White and Hearn have publicly exchanged criticism on multiple occasions, while their respective positions could bring them into the same negotiations should the Fury-Joshua bout be finalised. Hearn’s agreement with DAZN prevents him from leading the promotion, according to the report, while White has previously said that broadcast and venue arrangements have been completed.
The location remains one of the outstanding considerations surrounding the prospective fight. A bout in Britain would provide a domestic setting for the two former heavyweight champions, but plans to stage the contest during American prime time could create difficulties because of local curfews, while broadcast rights also remain an issue.
Alalshikh remains a key figure in efforts to finalise the contest, with Fury and Joshua yet to formally agree to the fight. Despite the continuing exchanges between White and Hearn, negotiations remain focused on securing the arrangements required to finally stage one of British boxing’s most anticipated matchups.
