The featured bouts for the UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi are official following Friday’s weigh-ins.
In the main event, England’s Tom Aspinall will take on the first formal defence of his heavyweight championship when he squares off with France’s Ciryl Gane in a bout pitting two of the most athletic and technical heavyweights on the roster. Both men came in well under the heavyweight requirement of 265-pounds, with Aspinall the heavier of the two at 255-pounds. Gane, meanwhile, tipped the scales at 247.5.
In the co-main, the former Invicta champion Virna Jandiroba fights Mackenzie Dern for the vacant women’s strawweight championship — with both competitors making weight at 115-pounds.
There were just two misses on the card: Jose Delgado came in a pound heavy for a featherweight fight against England’s Nathaniel Wood, while Azat Maksum was three pounds over for a flyweight battle against Mitch Raposo.
