Sean Strickland is rarely too far from the headlines.
The former UFC middleweight champion is known for being one of the most outspoken fighters on the roster and has once again shown that he isn’t willing to take any disrespect from anyone, even if that involves him storming the cage at the conclusion of a fight.
In footage that has gone viral in recent hours, Strickland — along with his friend and training partner Chris Curtis — entered the cage at a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas last weekend where he confronted (and threw a punch at) the unbeaten prospect Luis Hernandez who moments earlier had scored a standing guillotine choke win over another training partner of Strickland’s, Miles Hunsinger.
You can watch footage of the incident here.
The source of Strickland’s ire was Hernandez’s choice of a post-fight celebration, where he had appeared to aim a so-called ‘crotch chop’ gesture in the direction of Strickland and Curtis — which very quickly led to chaos in the cage as personnel attempted to avoid a full-on brawl.
It remains to be seen what, if any, type of punishment may be levied upon Strickland and/or Curtis by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, particularly if one or both entered the cage in the capacity as a licensed cornerman, though this remains unknown for now.
