Alex Pereira arrived in the UFC in 2021 with a fearsome reputation as being one of the world’s best strikers.

Throughout his five fights with the organisation, it is easy to see why. The Brazilian has scored knockout wins against three UFC opponents thus far — Andreas Michalidis, Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya — and will try his hand against Jan Blachowicz in his light heavyweight debut last summer.

Much of Pereira’s striking prowess centres over his concussive left hand; a strike he can obscure even in the most basic of exchanges — and this was a lesson learned the hard way by a sparring partner during a recent session, as Pereira snuck in a left to the liver of his advancing sparring partner, quickly sending to the mat to recover.
