Dana White’s friendship with the US president continues to bear fruit for the organisation.
White has been a notable supporter of Donald Trump throughout his political career dating back to the early Zuffa days when Trump allowed UFC events to take place on his properties — and that relationship continues to go full steam ahead after Trump confirmed that the UFC will hold an event at the White House in 2026 ahead of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Speaking at a rally in Iowa on Thursday, Trump said: “Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White. We’re going to have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there. Dana’s going to do it. Dana’s great, one of a kind. We’re going to have a UFC fight, a championship fight, like full fight, 20, 25,000 people and we’re going to do that as part of 250 also.
“We’re going to have some incredible events. Some professional events, some amateur events but the UFC fight’s going to be a big deal, too.”
Trump has been a regular visitor to UFC events in recent years, while White has spoken on his behalf at events such as the Republican National Convention. It has also been reported that Trump offered White a role in his cabinet.
One fighter who has expressed an interest in competing on the White House show is Conor McGregor, who wrote on social media on Friday: ““Happy 4th of July, USA. Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House. I would be honoured! Count me in!”
Trump has also thrown his support behind an event he calls Patriot Games, which would feature youth athletes from across the US competing against one another in a variety of diciplines.
The UFC has held events in Washington D.C. before but, obviously, has yet to make its debut at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
