UFC flyweight fighter Allan Nascimento has died at the age of 34 after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep, the UFC said. The Brazilian flyweight was found unresponsive on Monday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of responding medical personnel.
Nascimento had competed in the UFC since 2021 and last fought in June, when he suffered a split-decision defeat to Mitch Raposo. He finished his professional MMA career with a record of 22 wins and seven losses, including a 4-2 record in the UFC.
The UFC said Nascimento was found unresponsive after an apparent heart attack in his sleep. “Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said the UFC, according to a statement. The promotion added: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, team-mates and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Former UFC champion Charles Oliveira, who trained alongside Nascimento at Chute Boxe under coach Dhiego Lima, paid tribute to his friend on social media. “Today I lost a brother that the fight game gave me,” said Oliveira, according to a post on Instagram. He added: “Thank you for always being by my side, for sharing the mats and the corner. I have nothing but gratitude for having you with me in training, in the corner, and just hanging out. I love you, man; you’re a legend.”
Nascimento’s death prompted further tributes from those closest to him. “Thank you for the wonderful journey, brother,” said UFC lightweight Elves Brener, also on Instagram. “You were always an incredible person, and today is an extremely sad day for all of us at Chute Boxe. I will carry you in my heart forever, champion.” Chute Boxe also paid tribute, describing Nascimento as a “warrior, friend, dedicated competitor and extraordinary human being.”
Nascimento was part of the renowned Chute Boxe gym in Brazil, where he trained alongside several leading Brazilian MMA fighters. “Allan inspired on and off the mats with his determination, humility, respect and fighting spirit,” said a statement from Chute Boxe. “Your presence will be missed immeasurable, rest in peace Allan, your name, your story and your legacy will live forever through our star.”
