Tony Ferguson is back in the win column.

The former interim UFC lightweight champion last tasted victory in a TKO (doctor stoppage) win over Donald Cerrone back in June 2019 — a fight which remains his last win to date in mixed martial arts after experiencing eight defeats in a row in the cage between a May 2020 defeat against Justin Gaethje and an August 2024 submission loss to Michael Chiesa, which remains his final fight in the UFC cage.

But as the co-main event to the latest Misfits Boxing card in Manchester, England, Ferguson got back to winning ways against the influencer turned power-punching-boxer known as ‘Salt Papi.’

Ferguson claimed the win in the third round, as Salt Papi was unable (in the official’s eyes at least) to answer a Ferguson flurry against the ropes.

Immediately afterwards, an ecstatic Ferguson dropped to his knees in the middle of the canvas, obviously overcome by the win which had followed eight prior bouts of disappointment.

“Kid is tough as sh*t,” Ferguson announced of his opponent afterwards. “I mean, the guy has got ballss of steel for signing the dotted line. So, props to Salt Papi.”

Afterwards, Salt Papi revealed that Ferguson had sent his gloves to him, complete with his signature and a message for his defeated opponent.

“You have a heart of gold, kid.” Ferguson wrote.

“It takes balls of steel to do what we did. You have my respect, sir — Tony.”

Speaking in the aftermath of the bout, Ferguson outlined his desire to continue making competitive appearances for the upstart boxing league.
