Jiri Prochazka says he is willing to drop to the 185-pound division in the UFC, depending on the direction of the light-heavyweight division and his pursuit of a title.

The former light-heavyweight champion revealed that while he remains active in the 205-pound class, a move down to middleweight is under consideration if the timing and circumstances suit his ambitions.

Prochazka, a former champion at 205 pounds, said he knows his body and believes he could make the cut successfully. He told media that, “I think to [185], middleweight, will be really something. And I believe I can make it with my body, I know my body so I believe I can make it.”

He also referenced his commitment to bringing the light-heavyweight title back to his native Czech Republic, stating that the step to middleweight depends on what the division does next. For now, he said, “first I really want to bring the title to Czech Republic. Light heavyweight.”

Prochazka has twice lost to the current light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and recently scored a knockout win over Khalil Rountree Jr. to re-establish his contender status. With Pereira reportedly exploring a move to heavyweight, Prochazka appears to be keeping his options open.

If Pereira vacates or moves on from the 205-pound division, a drop to 185 pounds could offer Prochazka a fresh path. He told media the possibility of a middleweight move is real, adding that “it depends.”

Prochazka’s shift would place him in a middleweight field already led by champion Khamzat Chimaev and top contender Nassourdine Imavov, a reality he acknowledged. For now, though, the Czech fighter remains focused on his preferred route: reclaiming light-heavyweight gold.
