Former UFC champion Frankie Edgar has become the latest MMA alum to try his hand(s) in bare knuckle boxing.

It was reproted this week that ex-UFC lightweight champion that Edgar has signed a deal with Conor McGregor co-owned Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and the New Jersey native will make his debut in the fight league’s first-ever card in the Garden State on October 4th.

Edgar will likely take on another former UFC fighter, Jimmie Rivera, at the event. Rivera last competed in MMA in early 2021 and has amassed a 23-5 professional record — along with a 2-2-1 record in five contests in the BKFC ring.

‘The Answer’ has not competed in combat sports since November 2022 following defeat by Chris Gutierrez, in what was his third straight knockout defeat. He announced his retirement from MMA following a 36-fight career which spanned 17 years. In the years since his retirement, he was confirmed into the UFC Hall of Fame, while also developing other business opportunities such as a gym and the production of a podcast.

The October 4 BKFC card in New Jersey is scheduled to be headlined by a ‘King of Violence’ title bout between Mike Perry and Jeremy Stephens.
