Dana White’s first foray into boxing promotion couldn’t have come on a much bigger stage.

In September, two of the best pound-for-pound fighters of their generation, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford, both world champi0ns in numerous weight classes, will clash in Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium in what represents the first co-promotion by Saudi Arabian boxing powerbroker, Turki Alalshikh and TKO executive and UFC president Dana White.

On Sunday in New York in what was the second of four scheduled press events to promote the bout, both Canelo and Crawford came face-to-face months our from what is expected to be one of the most-watched combat sports events in history — and as you might expect, both men made clear that they were unwilling to cede an inch of territory to the other.

White, in his role as promoter of the fight, found himself in a familiar position as he stepped in to separate the pugilists as soon as things began to get heated and various members of both teams’ entourage flooded the dais.

The much-anticipated fight of the year (in either boxing or MMA, most likely) will go down on September 13 in Sin City and will be broadcast live on Netflix at no additional cost to subscribers. It represents the second time that the streaming platform has hosted a high profile boxing event in recent times following last year’s bout between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
