Tyson Fury has poured cold water on any talk of a boxing comeback, insisting his retirement is final — despite growing speculation around a potential mega-fight with Anthony Joshua.

Speaking to Sky Sports while attending Doncaster Racecourse, the former WBC heavyweight champion gave a blunt response when asked if he’d ever return to the ring.

“Never,” Fury said. “Too old. Look at my beard, all grey. Boxing is a young man’s game.”

Fury hasn’t fought since his second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. The two bouts — a split decision in May, followed by a more convincing unanimous decision loss — marked the first defeats of his career and led to his most recent retirement announcement in January.

Earlier this year, however, Fury posted gym photos with coach SugarHill Steward and hinted at unfinished business, sparking rumours of a return. Promoter Eddie Hearn even floated the idea of a comeback bout followed by the long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua, saying, “We want them both to have a comeback fight… and then move straight forward to AJ-Fury.”

But Fury appears unmoved by the noise. “I’m retired, and I’m staying retired,” he said. “Get me face punched in, for what? What will I return for?”

The Gypsy King also addressed the talk of unfinished business. “I’ve done it all. There’s nothing left for me in the ring,” he said. “I’ve got nothing to prove.”

Despite the mounting speculation, Fury insists his time is up. “Too old,” he repeated. “Boxing’s a young man’s game.” For now, at least, the gloves are staying off.
