November’s exhibition bout between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Jake Paul will have a winner declared, after the specifics behind the controversial bout were confirmed.

The fight, which was moved to Florida from its original home in Georgia following sanctioning difficulties in that state, will see both men compete at a maximum weight limit of 195-pounds, with it set to take place across ten rounds and with 12oz gloves. Davis usually fights with 8oz gloves, while Paul uses 10oz.

Davis, a lightweight world champion, has generally fought at 135-pounds throughout much of his career, while Paul has most often fought at the cruiserweight limit of 200-pounds. Unlike some other boxing exhibitions of recent times, it was confirmed that the November 14 bout will have a winner declared and will be scored ringside by experienced judges.

However, the bout will not be recorded on either fighter’s professional record.

“There will be a victor because the fighters have agreed and the commission has approved a maximum weight of 195lb for this exhibition,” Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, said.

“When Tank and Jake enter the squared circle to go to battle, they will be wearing 12oz gloves. Sitting ringside will be three commission-approved world-class professional judges that will score every round to ensure there’s a decisive outcome for the fight if it goes the distance.

“And both men are enrolled in the highest level of testing with USADA.”

Davis, who is undefeated in his career, said that he expects some difficulties due to giving up size and reach to his opponent.

“Every time I fight, it’s fireworks,” Davis said. “I’m much quicker than him. He’s much stronger and much bigger, but we all know that it’s harder for taller fighters to fight a shorter one.

“He’s decent and he’s going to hold up for a couple of rounds, but once it gets hot in there you know how things play out.”
