The former multiple time world champion Ricky Hatton is coming back for one last hurrah.

‘The Hitman,’ a winner of world titles at welterweight and light-welterweight, will fight Eisa Al Dah of the United Arab Emirates in a middleweight contest in Dubai. The Manchester native will be 47 by the time of the December 2 bout, which takes place in Dubai.

Al Dah, who is also 46, has a pro record of 8-3 and last boxed in 2021 — a fight which itself came nine years after his most recent bout before that.

Speaking of the comeback fight, Hatton said he had intended to be present in Dubai to announce it but had injured his eye in a freak accident which made travel impossible.

“I wish I was there but I had a little bad injury on my eye. The main thing is the fight will take place and I can’t wait, I’m really looking forward to it,” Hatton said.

“It’s just one of them freakish things, I caught one of my sunglasses in my eyes and I’m very fortunate it’s not done any permanent damage. It’s just scraped the surface, so fingers crossed we’re good to go.”

Hatton posted a 48-3 record in his professional career, losing to Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and, in his last fight in 2012, Ukraine’s Vyacheslav Senchenko. All three of his career losses came by way of KO or TKO.

Hatton’s most recent win came in November of 2008, where he defeated Paulie Malignaggi by eleventh-round TKO. The Englishman’s career ledger also shows wins against the likes of Jose Luis Castillo, Kosta Tszyu and Luis Collazo. 32 of his 45 career wins came inside the distance.

Hatton’s confirmation of a ring return follows similar announcements from Tyson Fury and his former opponent Pacquiao, who will fight Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title in Las Vegas later this month.
